Diferentes estados de conservación. A EXAMINAR.El escalín (1/8 de patagón) es un clásico de las acuñaciones centroeuropeas. Tenemos constancia de su existencia desde finales de la Edad Media. En el caso de los Países Bajos españoles tenemos los primeros ejemplares ya durante el reinado de Alberto e Isabel, acuñándose los últimos ya sin presencia hispana hacia 1768. El nombre de la moneda parece provenir del latín schilingius, que dio lugar al francés escalín, al alemán schilling o al inglés shilling.
